Extension Agent - 4-H
Eagle County

Jenny Wood, Extension AgentHello! My name is Jenny Wood and I’m currently residing in Gypsum which is in the heart of Eagle County. Except for a small stint in the North Park/Walden area, I have lived in Gypsum my entire life on the same place that my grandmother’s parents homesteaded nearly one hundred years ago! I have three brothers; two of which are married with four beautiful nieces. One of these brothers manages a ranch in South Dakota, along with his wife and two daughters whom I enjoy visiting every chance I get.

I have a few animals including five horses, four goats, two dachshunds, and one basset hound. My animals are like my children! I enjoy riding my horses in the mountains, working cattle and roping. I am also active in my church where I teach Sunday school and am the substitute piano player. In addition to riding horses, in my spare time I enjoy working in the yard, camping, traveling and spending time with my family.

I have been involved in 4-H in some form or another for the past 26 years where I started out as a Mini-4-H'er (now known as Cloverbuds) and have continued to be involved in the program in someway since that time. I worked as a summer intern in the Eagle County office for four years while attending college. I attended college at NJC in Sterling before transferring to CSU where I obtained a BS degree in Agricultural Business.

Upon graduating from CSU in 2000, I worked for First Bank in Eagle County for a few years until the 4-H Agent position came open where I applied and was fortunate enough to be selected for the job! I am going on my sixth year as an agent which seems more like six months! Since that time, I have had the opportunity to be involved in starting a horse judging team, interstate exchange club, and after-school program. We have two county 4-H barns where nearly 30 4-H’ers raise livestock each year for the County Fair. I feel very blessed to work in a county where I grew up and love being an Extension Agent. No two days are ever alike in this job!
