Extension Agent - 4-H & Youth Development
Mesa County

Dinah Peebles, Extension AgentI grew up in Hotchkiss, Colorado, where my family raises registered Polled Hereford cattle. I have two brothers, Gary and Rex, and a twin sister, Katie. Since my family raised cattle, I was fortunate to be able to get more involved with the cattle, where I was able to not only exhibit at the county, state, and national levels, but I went on to serve on several state and national boards for the Hereford Breed. At the national level I served on the National Junior Polled Hereford Council for three years, as Vice President and area director for nine states.

I was a ten year 4-H member in Delta County. Some of my projects included clothing, foods, Jr. Leadership, breeding sheep, market lambs, market hogs, breeding cattle, and market steers. I participated in livestock judging from the time I was a junior member all the way through to my senior year. I also served as a club project leader for three years.

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, the outdoors and playing sports. Right now, my favorite times are to spending time with my family and especially playing games with my niece and nephews.

In 2000, I received my Bachelors of Arts from Western State College in Gunnison. I then went on to Colorado State University and in 2002 completed my Masters of Agriculture (Extension Education).

Before being hired by Colorado State University Extension I was a regional Agriculture Business Specialist with the University of Missouri Extension for five counties in the South Central region. Prior to that, I served two years as the summer intern for the 4-H program in Montrose County as part of my Masters program at CSU. Plus, I worked a couple of years in the Mortgage field.
