Spotlight on: Courtney Loflin
4-H International Programs Coordinator
CSU, Fort Collins
I grew up in rural New York
State on a Holstein dairy farm near Lake Ontario. Some of the greatest learning
in my life came from that environment. I graduated from Rochester Institute of
Technology in Business Administration and worked for Kodak before moving to
Colorado.
My first connection with 4-H was through being a host family
for a Japanese girl through 4-H International Programs in Colorado in 1986. Our
family still maintains contact with her. I had been in Girl Scouts and a
Campfire Girls leader. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN 4-H!! The life skills gained by
young people through the 4-H program are amazing, and I am proud to be a part
of that.
My involvement as a coordinator for 4-H International Programs
started as a volunteer in 1987 and I was officially hired as part of the State
4-H Staff in 1991. Although I have traveled to many countries, the experience
and learning opportunities through this position have expanded my horizons and
given me a broader perspective of the world. I highly value what I have learned
and truly believe that the variety in which things are done throughout the
world in different cultures are not right or wrong, but
different.
I am married and have two grown, married children. Both
graduated from CSU and live in Colorado. We live west of Ft. Collins in the
foothills near Horsetooth Reservoir. I enjoy gardening, horses, dogs, cats,
wildlife, snow skiing and travel.
